Open pit mining refers to the above ground open-pit mining activities of solid minerals (such as metallic minerals, non-metallic minerals, coal, etc.) that occur in the shallow crust.
Open pit depression mining refers to the above ground open-pit mining activities of solid minerals (such as metallic minerals, non-metallic minerals, coal, etc.) that occur in the shallow crust. The final mining bottom surface (final mining elevation) of the mining site is lower than the lowest natural drainage benchmark surface around the mining site. The mining site is a closed inverted cone or basin shaped depression space, and all mining steps (platforms) are distributed on the final slope. Seasonal water collection and underground seepage inside the mining site need to be organized and drained by artificial drainage facilities (drainage ditches, intercepting ditches or pumping stations). Specific activities include the development and extension of mining space in the mining area, ore extraction and stripping operations, operation of specialized drainage systems in depressed mining areas, auxiliary mineral processing work, and preparation work required for the sale of raw materials.
